The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is designed to provide Australians with disability, their families and carers access to support to meet their goals across their lifetime. The scheme is expected to transform the way disability services are funded, delivered and consumed across Australia.

The NDIS supports people with disability in building skills and capability so they can participate in community and employment. The scheme is expected to significantly increase the number of people receiving these services and create new jobs. It is also expected to grow the number of opportunities for service providers and the broader community.

Wide-ranging impacts will be seen across the sector. The Department of Employment, Small Business and Training is committed to ensuring training and career pathways are available to grow local skilled workforces and to help disability service and training providers meet the opportunities head-on.

Around 97,000 Queenslanders with disability are expected to be supported under the NDIS, with the state's workforce expanding significantly over the next four to five years. To learn more about the NDIS in Queensland, visit the NDIS website.
