The Queensland Small Business Procurement Commitment – Action Statement supports the Queensland Government's commitment to make it easier for small businesses to supply to the government, and be a model payer by paying small businesses on time and in full.

Through this action statement, the government is working to drive an increase in participation by small businesses in delivering products and services to the government, and create local jobs that support positive economic and social outcomes for our communities and regions.

Priority action areas

There are 3 priority action areas to support the Queensland Government's commitment to improving small business procurement opportunities:

  • building capability—improve small business capability through increased awareness, greater access to a range of resources, and by building supplier and government relationships
  • paying suppliers faster—from 1 July 2020 payment timeframes for small business suppliers have been reduced from 30 calendar days to 20 calendar days
  • supporting and measuring participation—engage with small business suppliers better, and work towards establishing a measurable target to drive an increase in small business participation in procurement activities across government.
