The Queensland Government recognises the importance of streamlining regulation to make it easier to do business. To do this, the Queensland Small Business Commissioner will work with the Office of Productivity and Red Tape Reduction.

The Commissioner previously chaired the Taskforce, a sub-committee of the Queensland Small Business Advisory Council. The former Taskforce provided advice to government on improving regulation to support small business, to create a strong, profitable, and globally competitive business environment.

The Third Better Regulation Taskforce Report

In 2019–20, the Taskforce undertook an artisanal producers' regulation review to better understand the impact the regulatory system has on artisan food and non-alcoholic beverage producers, and reported their findings. The Queensland Government's response to the recommendations are being implemented.

Better Regulation Taskforce Report 2018

In 2018, the Taskforce reviewed the future of regulation in a digitally disrupted economy with a focus on the impacts for small business, and reported their findings. The Queensland Government's response and action plan have been implemented.

Better Regulation Taskforce Report 2017

In 2017, the Taskforce undertook a review of the regulatory environment of the eco-tourism, live music entertainment and start-up sectors. The Queensland Government's response to the recommendations in the report have been implemented.

Red Tape Reduction Advisory Council Report 2016

The Red Tape Reduction Advisory Council Report 2016 outlined the findings and recommendations of a review, undertaken by the former Red Tape Reduction Advisory Council, to identify government compliance issues impacting on small businesses in the agriculture (fruit growing), manufacturing (light metals) and hospitality (cafes and restaurants) industries.

The actions under the Queensland Government's response to the report have been implemented.
