The Department of Youth Justice was established in December 2023.

Our department is committed to keeping Queensland communities safe, supporting victims and actively tackling the complex causes of youth crime and targeting serious repeat offenders.

Our Director-General

Robert (Bob) Gee is the Director-General for the Department of Youth Justice, assuming the role in late December 2023. Previously, Bob has served as Director-General for the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. Bob was also Chair of the Family Responsibilities Board, Deputy Police Commissioner, Regional Operations in the Queensland Police Service (QPS), the State Disaster Coordinator, a board member of the Queensland Reconstruction Authority, and the QPS Indigenous Champion. Bob is the Government Champion for Doomadgee.

Bob has diverse professional experience, having worked in central agencies, as a university lecturer, and as a consultant across various industries. Additionally, he has held roles as a Chief Information Officer and served as a Commissioned Officer of Police for over 2 decades. Bob was a recipient of the Harvard Club of Australia Sir James Wolfensohn Scholarship in 2013.

Following recent changes to departmental responsibilities, we are now the Department of Youth Justice. Work is underway to update our websites.
