Queensland is gearing up to supercharge its in-demand workforces with Industry Skills Solutions, an initiative designed to fast-track skills development in key sectors driving the state's economy.

The Industry Skills Solutions initiative, backed by $8 million in 2024–25 through the Queensland Skills Strategy, first focuses developing skilling solutions for the following priority industry areas:

  • aged care
  • construction
  • early childhood education and care
  • non-traditional industries for women.

This collaborative program brings together employers, industry experts, and quality training providers to co-design specialised training solutions.

The goal

Industry Skills Solutions will give employers and industry the power to create and deliver fit-for-purpose training responses that will:

  • attract new talent
  • upskill existing employees
  • develop new training pathways where none exist.

The initiative covers a wide range of approaches, from creating new training products like micro-credentials, to addressing skills gaps with targeted industry-led solutions.

With a special focus on workforce development, employers will be better prepared to navigate evolving industries and emerging technologies.

This is a major step towards ensuring Queensland remains a leader in these fast-growing areas of industry.
