The Youth Crime Taskforce developed a multi-agency action plan that identifies several action items that support the department's reform program.
The multi-agency action plan aims to specifically support the government's initiatives to reduce reoffending.
The taskforce is particularly concerned about the group of young people who are identified as high-risk and needing a collaborative response. The taskforce aims to use the multi-agency action plan to embed processes, practices and protocols to better support these young people. The goal is to change the trajectory of young people's offending and improve community safety.
There is a meaningful focus on addressing and supporting the specific needs of young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples who are over-represented in the youth justice system.
Multi-agency collaborative panels
Youth Justice will work together with other government and non-government agencies to coordinate service delivery for those young people identified as requiring a collaborative response through a multi-agency and multi-disciplinary approach.
Multi-agency collaborative panels will aim to reduce offending, and increase community safety by identifying systemic themes and trends, making recommendations to resolve barriers using local resources, and escalating issues as necessary.

Multi-agency information sharing
We can share information between government and non-government organisations to enable the efficient coordination of services to support, rehabilitate and reintegrate children charged with offences.
We have developed a cross-agency memorandum of understanding and arrangement to provide a way for information to be shared.
