The Fraser Coast Regional Jobs Committee, locally branded as Jobs Fraser Coast, recently set out to address key challenges voiced by local businesses and industry stakeholders. These included a lack of awareness about government support services, funding for training, workforce attraction, and retention initiatives. Recognising that traditional communication methods weren't resonating with business owners, the Fraser Coast Regional Jobs Committee developed a tailored, action-oriented approach to bridge the gap.

Their vision: to create a connected, collaborative Fraser Coast business community empowered by access to government and industry support.

A cornerstone of this effort was the launch of the Proud to Have One campaign in August 2024. This initiative showcases businesses employing apprentices and trainees. Starting with a simple window sticker, the campaign evolved into a movement, sparking conversations within the Fraser Coast business community around the benefits and challenges of mentoring the next generation of skilled workers.

Partnering with organisations like Downer Group, Construction Skills Queensland, Regional Development Australia, and InScope Training, Jobs Fraser Coast hosted industry networking events to foster collaboration. These events provided platforms for businesses, apprentices, and tradespeople to connect and discuss strategies to meet the region's future construction needs by encouraging the employment of apprentices and trainees.

The Regional Jobs Committee's ongoing commitment to driving momentum, fostering dialogue, and using data to adapt and deliver impactful solutions for Fraser Coast businesses is making headway. With a proactive, community-driven approach, Jobs Fraser Coast is setting a benchmark for empowering local industries and preparing for the region's infrastructure pipeline.
