To meet the demand for skilled workers now and into the future, the Queensland Government wants to ensure our vocational education and training (VET) sector is focused on providing priority skills in traditional and emerging industries and supporting all Queenslanders into good jobs.

To do this, the Queensland Government is developing a new Queensland VET Strategy.

The new strategy will also be Queensland's roadmap to deliver on the National Skills Agreement, driving billions of dollars in investment from the Queensland and Australian governments over 5 years to improve access to quality training and address critical skills needs.

Learn more about the National Skills Agreement.

Consultation to inform the development of a new VET strategy for Queensland opened 29 June 2023 and closed at 5pm, Friday 18 August 2023.

More than 8,000 students, parents, employers and organisations involved in VET contributed their feedback and ideas through submissions to the discussion paper, participation in forums and focus groups, and by completing the online survey.

We thank everyone for taking the time to have their say.

Consultation findings are outlined in the Developing a new Queensland Vocational Education and Training Strategy consultation summary.
