Major infrastructure work generates many benefits to the economy, businesses and communities. However, some businesses may be affected during construction.

As an action of the Queensland Small Business Strategy 2024–27, new resources have been released providing guidance on reducing business disruption during infrastructure works.

These resources include practical information and advice for small business and for Queensland Government agencies, local councils and their contractors.

Small businesses can learn about reducing business disruption from major infrastructure work on the Business Queensland website for resources covering:

  • tips on how to engage with government agencies and local councils that are planning major infrastructure work
  • suggestions on keeping customers and adapting business operations during construction
  • information on support available
  • a downloadable checklist.

Resources for Queensland Government agencies, local councils and their contractors are available, covering processes for:

  • engaging with businesses at the planning stage of infrastructure projects
  • assessing and mitigating potential impacts from business disruption
  • engaging with business during construction.

Case studies provide examples of support for local businesses.

You can also download the Business friendly guide for infrastructure works and accompanying checklist.
