Queensland Skills Strategy

The Queensland Government provides targeted investment through a number of different vocational education and training (VET) investment programs to assist industry and employers train and upskill their current and future workforce.
Certificate 3 Guarantee
Certificate 3 Guarantee provides a government subsidy to allow eligible Queenslanders to obtain their first post-school certificate III qualification.
Employer incentives and subsidies for apprenticeships and traineeships
Employers of apprentices and trainees may be eligible for financial support to reduce the costs of training and supervision throughout the apprenticeship or traineeship.
Higher Level Skills
The Higher Level Skills program provides a government subsidy to help individuals gain the higher level skills and qualifications required to secure employment or career advancement in a priority industry or to transition to university.
Fee-Free TAFE
Fee-Free TAFE covers the cost of training for specific high priority qualifications at TAFE Queensland and CQUniversity.
Free Nursing
The Diploma of Nursing is available for free to limited eligible Queenslanders at TAFE Queensland, CQUniversity and Mater Education.
Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s
Free Apprenticeships for Under 25s covers the cost of training for apprentices and trainees who commence, or are already undertaking, a priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualification between 1 January 2021 to 31 December 2024.
Free Construction Apprenticeships for Over 25s
The cost of training will be covered for apprentices, aged 25 and older, who commence in a construction--related apprenticeship between 1 July 2024 and 30 June 2026.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work
Skilling Queenslanders for Work is a suite of targeted skills and training programs supporting Queenslanders to gain the skills, qualifications and experience needed to enter and stay in the workforce.
Back to Work
Back to Work gives Queensland employers the confidence to take on someone new and the opportunity to grow their business. The Queensland Government supports eligible employers to hire an eligible unemployed job seeker with payments of up to $20,000 available, subject to funding availability.
