The Queensland Government's $1 million Advancing Apprentices Fund aims to partner with industry to promote priority apprenticeship pathways and encourage more businesses to employ apprentices.
The Queensland Government provides targeted investment through a number of different vocational education and training (VET) investment programs to assist industry and employers train and upskill their current and future workforce.
Certificate 3 Guarantee
Certificate 3 Guarantee provides a government subsidy to allow eligible Queenslanders to obtain their first post-school certificate III qualification.
Employer incentives and subsidies for apprenticeships and traineeships
Employers of apprentices and trainees may be eligible for financial support to reduce the costs of training and supervision throughout the apprenticeship or traineeship.
Higher Level Skills
The Higher Level Skills program provides a government subsidy to help individuals gain the higher level skills and qualifications required to secure employment or career advancement in a priority industry or to transition to university.
To help Queensland's economy to recover from the impacts of COVID-19, the JobTrainer Fund is delivering additional training places in short courses, certificate and diploma qualifications to Queensland job seekers, school leavers and young people.
Free apprenticeships for under 25s
Free apprenticeships for under 25s will cover the cost of training for apprentices and trainees who commence, or are undertaking, a priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualification from 1 January 2021 to 30 September 2022.
Skilling Queenslanders for Work
Skilling Queenslanders for Work is a suite of targeted skills and training programs supporting Queenslanders to gain the skills, qualifications and experience needed to enter and stay in the workforce. Employers have the opportunity to support and participate in local training projects designed to equip job seekers with the skills, qualifications and experience needed to enter and stay in the workforce.
Back to Work
Back to Work gives Queensland employers the confidence to take on someone new and the opportunity to grow their business. The Queensland Government supports eligible employers to hire an eligible unemployed job seeker with payments of up to $20,000 available, subject to funding availability.
Regional Skills Investment Strategy
The Regional Skills Investment Strategy is a $9 million initiative funded over 4 years that supports selected regional communities to identify current and emerging jobs in key industries and ensure sufficient supply of skilled local people to meet this demand.
Micro-credentialing Pilots Program
Micro-credentialing Pilots aim to improve employability of participants by providing skills in demand from industry and increasing the labour productivity of enterprises through investment in technical, digital and soft skills.
Higher Level Apprenticeship Pilot
The Higher Level Apprenticeship Pilot aims to deliver the higher level skills needed for the emerging fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0.
