Free apprenticeships for under 21s will cover the cost of training for Queensland apprentices and trainees who commence or are undertaking a priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualification from 1 July 2019 to 30 June 2023.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for Free apprenticeships under 21s, you must be employed in Queensland as an apprentice or trainee under a training contract in one of the 139 priority apprenticeship or traineeship qualifications on or after 1 July 2019.

Find a qualification

Apprenticeship and traineeship qualifications on offer include traditional trade areas such as electrical, plumbing and engineering as well as non-trade areas including early childhood, aged and disability care.

There are 139 apprenticeship and traineeship qualifications to choose from.

Find an employer

Once you have decided which apprenticeship or traineeship you want to do, contact a local Apprenticeship Network provider to help you find an employer.

What's free?

Free means the Queensland Government will cover the full cost of training undertaken with a training provider in the listed priority qualifications.

Employers will continue to cover the costs of wages for apprentices and trainees.

Apprentices and trainees may incur costs related to their uniform and resource costs.

A travel and accommodation subsidy is available to eligible apprentices and trainees who are required to travel at least 100kms return to attend off-the-job training for their apprenticeship or traineeship.
