The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year award (PDF, 89 KB) recognises the outstanding achievement of an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student who displays a strong understanding and knowledge of the vocational education and training (VET) system, and demonstrates the relevance of lifelong learning for themselves and their community.

To be considered in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year award category, you must first nominate in one of the abovementioned individual award categories. When submitting your online nomination, you must tick the following boxes, indicating that you:

  • are of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent; and
  • wish to also nominate for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year award.

Once you have ticked the boxes as part of your nomination for this award category, your nomination will also be automatically submitted for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student of the Year award. You do not need to address any additional selection criteria.
